Landscape factory – LF is design company from Belgrade. LFs’ primary objective is to provide professional landscape architecture and design services. LF offers project development, project control, construction, construction surveillance, maintenance services of green areas, interior decoration with plants, design of interior elements, design and construction of garden furniture and elements, New Year’s indoor and outdoor decoration. Our services also include complete landscape architecture, design and plant decoration consulting.
LF studio offers working solutions for indoor and outdoor of private and public buildings, apartments, houses and office buildings. Landscape architect provides complete service from meeting and consulting with client, design idea, to complete project delivery. LF delivers modern and environment friendly projects and solutions for gardens, terraces, atriums, green roofs, open urban spaces, offices, restaurants and residential buildings.
LF employs young open-minded team with fresh and innovative ideas, and above all educated and professional. Landscape factory – LF brings back landscape architecture and design to landscape architects.

Our team consists of young, creative landscape architects who develop the projects starting with a sketch and following it up to complete implementation of intended ideas. Our collaborators – gardeners, architects, constructors, experts for irrigation systems and light – are available to make sure drafts and presented visualization to clients are adequately implemented.

Dejan Popov

M. Sci. Eng. Landscape architecture – studio founder
Dejan Popov, M. Sci. Eng. Landscape Architecture, was born in 1986. As a student of the generation 2010, after undergraduate studies at the Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture at the Faculty of Forestry, University of Belgrade, he finishes Master Program Landscape Architecture at the same University. During his studies he was working on the projects in the country and abroad.
Since the beginning of 2011 he has been working in the profession trying to represent landscape architecture as a multidisciplinary field with focus on design, projects and applied arts. At the beginning of 2014. he found ’Landscape Factory’ Landscape Architecture and Design studio in Belgrade. Engaging in projects of landscape architectural design in Serbia studio shows tendencies towards a new, different approach to art through a complete consulting on the implementation of ideas in open spaces. He was organizing by himself the construction of many private gardens, terraces and large-scale properties from initial sketches and ideas to the final implementation on the site. With his landscape and architecture knowledge, experience and skills he stands behind numerous projects.He is particularly interested in design. He is professional associate and permanent correspondent of the magazine for eco-architecture and culture ‘Eko Kuća’, specialized architecture magazine and web portal ‘Grenef.’ and a member of the Association of Journalists of Serbia. He is focused on planning and design, and with pleasure shows profession of landscape architecture and its development in the modern context. After many years of engagement in the profession in his country, he has a tendency to broaden the perspective by focusing on public and private projects abroad.
MAIN ASSOCIATES
Anđelka Slijepčević – architect and interior designer
She got her degree in architecture in 2006 and the same year started working in her own studio. As a consultant and expert in the field of architecture she was an associate in many companies who mainly focus on design and contracting in the fields of architecture and interior. Especially interested in sustainable, user friendly, simple architecture and interior design. As a well rounded artist she work on designing and manufacturing wooden childrens toys and furniture. She participated in many projects, from private apartments and houses, hospitality places – cafes, restaurants, hotels, to companies and industrial objects. Characterized by a higly aesthetic eye when it comes to shaping a space and with key focus on ergonomics and easy project implementation in reality.
Aleksa Đorđević – architect and interior designer
A talented young architect and designer, whose creative journey and passion for architecture began during his high school days, when he successfully completed a secondary architectural school. Becoming a true enthusiast of the world of spatial design, he decided to continue his education and channel his talent towards interior design. He entered the Faculty of Contemporary Arts, where he carefully built his knowledge of aesthetics, functionality and design innovations. Through various engagements, he focused on exploring modern trends in the design world, laying a solid foundation for his future career. He is an ambitious and committed professional, ready for challenges and new research. With his degree and a rich portfolio, he is prepared to offer his skills and contribute to the aesthetic and functional improvement of spaces. Versatility, precision and dedication make him an excellent choice for projects that require expertise and originality in the world of architecture, landscaping and design.
Suzana Mitrović – landscape architect
Doctor of Biotechnical Sciences. She completed her basic studies and doctorate at the Faculty of Forestry in Belgrade. She started her professional career in 2008 in PE „Zelenilo” in Belgrade. Since 2014 she becomes an associate of Landscape Factory design studio. She is characterized by perseverance in the struggle for a better human environment where it uses its high professional and scientific knowledge. She has an unwavering love for nature and animals and her professional engagement is characterized by a constant struggle for a better environment. She holds 373 and 474 licenses.
Milorad Veselinović – landscape architect
Doctor of Biotechnical Sciences. He completed his basic studies, master’s degree and doctorate at the Faculty of Forestry in Belgrade. He worked as a landscape architect in Serbia and Canada. Since 2014 he becomes an associate of Landscape Factory design studio. His work is characterized by years of experience (he began his professional career in 1985), accuracy and high professionalism. In addition to specialist knowledge of plant species, he strives to apply the latest scientific advances in landscape architecture and horticulture by working on LF projects. He holds 373 and 474 licenses.

During April, the landscape architecture month in the world, Dejan Popov, landscape architect and designer, presented his profession in the space of creative hub Nova Iskra in Belgrade.
The lecture speaks about landscape architecture seen through the prism of the time and location context. By displacing the narrow framework of thinking, team members of Landscape Factory studio in Belgrade have created a new concept, a different perspective of the profession. There has been discussion about the relation between landscape architecture and other professions with an emphasis on cooperation and complementarity.

In today’s modern world, the exteriors of spaces are becoming a true reflection of creativity, innovation and functionality, and more and more often a kind of canvas for artistic expression. New trends in exterior design are transforming traditional and conventional approaches, creating contemporary contexts of breathtaking aesthetics. Precisely for these reasons, the project of the Animo headquarters from Valjevo is a kind of story about the bold stylization of the architecture and the outdoor space. Notes of new spaces are the desire of the team of designers to write informal traces of new tendencies in landscape architecture.
AM design and brand Garda with Anica Andrić and Milan Karišik, in cooperation with Dejan Popov from Landscape Factory studio, carefully designed each separate element and detail of the space. A monumental dark object of pure lines and a giant glass portal framed by expanded metal mesh in golden and black tones perfectly complemented the other textures and structures. Dark colors, minimalism, sustainability, simple lines, nature, playfulness of forms – these were the basic items of notes of the project idea of the space. A notebook scribbled with sketches and drawings, footnotes, pages covered with colorful pieces of paper, blocks with key features, underlined important ideas, various handwritings, traces of graphite pencil and shading, long winding writings of thoughts with colorful markers, stickers. This diary of design notes has come to life with time and has taken on the appearance of a kind of art installation. Therefore, the designers say that „It’s not about outdoor. It’s about ART“.

The exterior of the Belgrade Villa Rio is characterized by timeless style, naturalness, calmness, coziness and unobtrusive luxury. In focus: Outside! The August 2023 newsletter of the SuperProstor platform shows projects, solutions and professionals in the field of exterior design. This periodical newsletter presents exceptional domestic architectural realizations, new products and services on the market and useful information – the best way for readers to keep up with what is current in architecture and design.
The exterior in the heart of Vracar Belgrade, a densely populated urban area, is a real oasis of peace, greenery and enjoyment. This shelter from the modern hustle and bustle, with a total area of 170m2, was designed to make the most of all the potential of living in an open space. Sunbeds, pergolas with creepers, surrounding high greenery, lounge areas, a plateau with a firepit, cabana with a barbecue and a dining table, and a summer kitchen enable intensive use of the garden for the greater part of the year. Modern design, clear and clean forms, were achieved by building spaces for planting different sizes and heights. The perimeter in the form of retaining walls has left space for the unhindered growth of trees and various greenery, and the depth of the necessary substrate has been achieved in an elegant way, given that the building’s underground garage is located below the garden. In this way, zones with different contents were created, as well as interesting views, which open specific scenes of the exterior from the interior rooms. The playfulness of the architectural structures of the outer space creates an unusual landscape-architectural ambience of the oasis, as a green island in the urban city. The final look of the garden was achieved with plant pots, furniture, interesting lighting and details.

The year 2022 was also marked by the new Landscape Factory studio. At the beginning of the year, the reconstruction of the studio interior at the new location was completed. With the whole-hearted help of associates, an interior was created that properly reflects our philosophy and also depicts the aesthetics we strive for. Finally, LF studio got a space that is a unique gathering place for collaborators, clients, good energy and unmatched style. We would like to thank everyone who participated and listened to our ideas and thoughts. The Fourth International Congress “Sustainable Architecture – Energy Efficiency”, held at the multifunctional spaces of the Yugoslav Cinematheque from October 8 to 10, 2021, covered important topics with a focus on sustainable, environmentally and energy efficient approach in architecture, using renewable energy sources, appropriate materials, modern technologies and construction systems. During the three days of this event, 10 eminent architects and landscape architects held lectures in the Makavejev Hall, while Kate Gould from England and Sasa Begovic from Croatia held full-day workshops for students and young architects in the multimedia hall of the Yugoslav Cinematheque.
Kate Gould, a landscape architect and award-winning garden designer from England, held a workshop with participants in the multimedia hall of the Yugoslav Cinematheque on the second day of the congress. Dejan Popov from the Landscape Factory studio in Belgrade, was an assistant in conceiving and leading the workshop, as well as part of the organizing team of the congress.

During April 2019, we had the great pleasure to plan and organize the first #gardening party and #teambuilding in our country for company Dr. Oetker Serbia. Everything was organized and arranged on the occasion of the first of May. The first of May is a national public holiday in many countries worldwide, in most cases as “Labour Day” or “International Workers’ Day”. Some companies give a heartwarming example of how they love and value their employees and encourage team spirit. They all did a great job, with a lot of hard work, even more hugs and most of all smiles and happiness.

The authors of the Landscape Factory studio are part of a team that proudly brought five stars to Ljubljana. The architecture of the InterContinental hotel, located in the very heart of the city, as the tallest building in Ljubljana, is signed by the Ofis Archtects studionfrom Slovenija, while the team of authors from Serbia was responsible for the landscape architecture and terrace on the 20th floor. Modern design of the parterre has clear and pure form achieved by building six interesting shaped surfaces with different dimensions. In the form of supporting walls, the space for undisturbed tree growth has been left open and the depth of the substrate has been achieved in an elegant manner. Passages for easier communication, flow and movement of users are left between the green areas. Thus, the views towards the ground floor of the hotel are created, but the perspective from the interior are also opened by the specific exterior scenes. Green surfaces with their cubature bring the third dimension of the garden and a kind of exterior sculpturality. Plant species are there to contribute to the general impression of creating ambient units, enhancing high aesthetic norms and functions through sound and visual isolation of space and the reduction of pollution damage. The playfulness of the architectural structures of the outer space creates an unusual landscape-architectural ambience of the oasis, as a kind of green fortifications in the urban area.

In May, after the landscape architecture month, we spoke about the terraces design, especially in urban areas. Consequently, there is an increasingly less available space on the ground (in terms of landscaping the areas), the trend of greening and landscaping of terraces (smaller home terraces, apartment terraces, as well as those larger areas – roof terraces) is increasingly present. Their benefit is evident by improving the microclimate conditions of the environment, including the creation of unique ambient and oasis. Here is a very important selection of plant species that are used, which are resistant to extreme environmental conditions (wind, stronger insolation, etc.). We also have a selection of pots and pottery for planting, materials, design elements, furniture and furnishing, lighting and other details.

Green Lab is the first urban garden in the center of Belgrade, as well as an open-air classroom dedicated to sustainable development. This specific multifunctional outdoor space is used for the implementation of educational programs, lectures and workshops in the field of sustainable development and green economy as well as an open workshop intended for neighbors and interested individuals who wish to be involved in the maintenance of this sort of urban garden. In the framework of the Together for the Community program, NIS supported this specific working and educational outdoor space, which covers around 250 m2. Until recently, this was only the roof of a nearby object and uncultivated piece of land overgrown with weeds, now has been transformed into an educational and ecological oasis called Green Lab, that is used by the local community and visitors of numerous programs and events at Nova Iskra. Through the organization of lectures, presentations and workshops, this laboratory represents experts, collectives and initiatives that are active both in local, regional and international context through the application and testing of various “green” solutions in the domain of urban gardening, setting up sustainable waste management systems, responsible use of natural resources and the use of alternative energy sources, as well as the application of other practices and technologies that contribute to the improvement of living in urban areas. Programs within the Green Lab are aimed at young professionals, users of coworking space, experts and the wider community with the idea to raise awareness, broaden the knowledge and build capacity in order to be ready to implement sustainable solutions in everyday life as well as within the working, learning and leisure spaces. The Green Lab is open for collaboration with individuals, initiatives and organizations that are interested to create similar urban gardens in their surroundings or to share their experiences in the process of creating sustainable concepts of life within our community.

That sense of sweetness in leisure and tranquility is what exterior designer Dejan Popov created in front of Landscape Factory Studio. Trying to reconcile the client’s wishes with his ideas and aesthetics, in cooperation with the architectural studio Dello, an interesting cascade garden was created. With interesting site height levels, a softened cascading of the terrain was achieved, through the formation of giant planters for trees and various plants, seating areas and raised beds for planting. All these rough construction interventions were skilfully softened by massifs of shrubby species, creepers and perennials. A centrally placed staircase leads from the stone plateau to the upper parts of the garden, so that a kind of symmetry was obtained with different elements and possibilities of use. Through the use of materials, the use of antiques, types of plants and the retention of old elements, the designer achieved precisely that this newly created garden looks as if it has been there for a very long time, leaving the possibility for the influence of time to bring its charm. With the natural course and aging of the garden, it seems to us that this exterior will only gain in its impressiveness and enchant even more. The majestic impression of space is certainly there, found in every carefully planned and selected element and detail.

The exterior of a private modern mountain property is created through the client’s selfless surrender to the designer. Wishes were everything to be simple, striking, unique and modern. Everything else, as well as the implementation of ideas, was left to the designer. Landscape Factory studio led by landscape architect Popov Dejan has endeavored to create an extraordinary modern inspiring ambience in the natural surroundings of the mountain near Novi Sad. This ambiental setting is made up of welcomed main access and plateau, porch, simple pergolas, outdoor pool area, greenery, sculptural designed pots with plants, play of various textures and paving with accented strokes in a violet color tartan, lighting, multiple zones suitable for outdoor dining or comfortably lounge sitting, carefully selected outdoor furnishing and details. All parts of this exterior are individually there to form an impressive scene and present free spirit estate owners. Contemporary is a special state of mind and desire to enjoy something special and different. The guests of this great multi-functional property may have different impressions of his appearance, but they can by no means be indifferent. It is there to impress and intrigue.

The spaces and facilities intended for reconstruction carry with them many obstacles and limitations, numerous conditions predetermined both by the architecture and the terrain, as well as the urban surrounding and objects. Then before architects and landscape architects placed a difficult task, but almost always inspiring and interesting in its overcoming the obstacles and solving problems. Nostalgia, an emotional connection to space and a desire to refine and preserve the former ambiences are the reasons why clients tend to direct their energy towards an interesting but often not so easy venture. It remains for the landscape designer to blend all the elements and ergonomics into one – a picture of a garden with perfect aesthetics. Painting an empty open space is what gives you the charm and joy of creating something new. There are many pieces to assemble a well-painted garden artwork, and only one result is needed – a harmonious and pleasant garden area of the whole suitable for outdoor living. Through the weather changes of natural materials, the growth and changing of the epithets of plant species, as well as the permanent elements of structure and furnishing, the painted will always remain as the most favorite framed, artistic work.

How it looks landscape architecture as a design field in the modern context?
During April, the landscape architecture month in the world, Dejan Popov, landscape architect and designer, presented his profession in the space of creative hub Nova Iskra in Belgrade.
The lecture speaks about landscape architecture seen through the prism of the time and location context. By displacing the narrow framework of thinking, team members of Landscape Factory studio in Belgrade have created a new concept, a different perspective of the profession. There has been discussion about the relation between landscape architecture and other professions with an emphasis on cooperation and complementarity.

‘GreenLab’ is first urban & educational garden in Belgrade as part of coworking place Nova Iskra. The project was realized with NIS Gazprom Neft, BFC non government organization and Studio Petokraka through the NIS social program ‘Together for the community’.
When the designers have an opportunity to creatively express themselves fully, they never remain bound. It causes an unusual landscape form in which attention is given to every detail. This garden flirts with terrain height differences and areas, boasts the shapes, colors and materials placed in contrast with a peaceful base tonality, show the diversity of plants and elements, with all reflecting the personality of those who will use this space in the future. Confronting all of these differences, the aim was to create a unique setting – a kind of ‘green room’ in the open air. The users of this garden tell everyone that they have a creation for all senses.
